Giant is an American melodic hard rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1987 by brothers Dann Huff (vocals and guitar) and David Huff (drums), alongside bassist Mike Brignardello and keyboardist Alan Pasqua. Combining exceptional musicianship, powerful melodies, and polished songwriting, the band quickly became one of the most respected names in the melodic hard rock and AOR scene.
Giant gained international recognition with their debut album Last of the Runaways (1989), featuring the hit single “I’ll See You In My Dreams,” which became one of the defining songs of the genre. Their sophomore release, Time to Burn (1991), further established the band’s reputation and is still regarded as a major influence on countless melodic rock and hard rock artists.
Following the band’s split during the early 1990s amid changing musical trends, its members pursued successful careers as musicians, songwriters, and producers. Dann Huff, in particular, became one of Nashville’s most respected producers and session guitarists.
In 2001, Giant returned with III, released through Frontiers Records, helping fuel the resurgence of melodic rock throughout Europe and beyond. Original members David Huff and Mike Brignardello later continued the band’s legacy with new lineups and releases, including Promise Land (2010).
A new chapter began in the 2020s with the addition of Swedish vocalist Kent Hilli, best known for his work with Perfect Plan. This lineup produced the albums Shifting Time (2022) and Stand and Deliver (2025), successfully blending Giant’s classic sound with a modern production approach.
More than three decades after their formation, Giant remain one of the most respected and influential bands in melodic hard rock, celebrated for their timeless songwriting, outstanding musicianship, and lasting impact on the international rock scene.
