The world of Latin rock is in mourning. Felipe Staiti, guitarist and founding member of Enanitos Verdes, passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 64 in Mendoza, Argentina, following health complications that had recently required hospitalization.
Staiti was a key figure in the history of Spanish-language rock. Since the band’s formation in 1979, his guitar work helped shape a sound that transcended borders and generations, establishing Enanitos Verdes as one of the most influential bands in the genre.
Throughout his career, he contributed to songs that became classics of Latin rock, leaving a lasting mark on the musical culture of the region. Following the death of vocalist Marciano Cantero in 2022, Staiti remained one of the central figures and the last active founding member of the band.
His legacy lives on not only through his music, but also through the influence he had on generations of musicians within and beyond Latin rock.
Although his music was not directly part of the glam or hard rock scene, his impact on the broader rock world is undeniable. Today, the music community says goodbye to a guitarist who helped define an era.
