The legendary Ozzfest is officially set to return. Nearly a decade after its last edition, Sharon Osbourne has confirmed that the iconic metal festival created with Ozzy Osbourne will make its comeback in 2027.
Sharon revealed the news during the MIDEM conference in Cannes, France, and later shared additional details on the family podcast The Osbournes.
According to Sharon, the plan is to relaunch the festival with a two-day event in Birmingham, England, the hometown of Ozzy Osbourne. The shows are expected to take place at Villa Park, before potentially expanding to dates in the United States.
First launched in 1996, Ozzfest quickly became one of the most influential metal festivals in the world. The event helped launch the careers of bands such as System of a Down, Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Coal Chamber, while legendary acts like Black Sabbath and Ozzy himself frequently headlined the lineup.
The festival last took place in 2018, and although there were plans to continue, Ozzy’s health issues forced the organizers to put the event on hold.
Now, the Osbourne family hopes to revive the spirit of the festival by focusing not only on established names, but also on emerging metal bands, something Ozzy always considered essential for the future of the genre.
“We have to find a lot of new young talent, because that’s what your father would want,” Sharon said during the podcast.
With the official announcement expected soon and activity already appearing on the festival’s social media accounts, it looks like the Prince of Darkness’ legacy will once again bring metal fans together around the world.
